Since men are so violent and emotional discomfort is a form of violence and since the most important thing in conversation is to feel safe, it's pretty easy to shut men down, isn't it? Thanks for that article, Roy. Also love your email showing the differences in AI replies to the two questions "Why is my husband yelling at me?" and "Why is my wife yelling at me?" I checked that just now and it's still pretty much the same. Women good. Men bad. Women victims. Men perps. Gosh, I guess what we need to do is sit together and talk -- without making women feel "unsafe," of course. Thanks, Roy.
Another aspect of the problem I have recently learned about is the role of annotators in AI. I gather that annotators are the translators and the context providers for what AI reads. Quite worrisome is the fact that something like 62 percent of annotators are female. That wouldn't necessarily be a problem if it weren't for the additional factors of culture-wide bias against men and the in-group bias and Groupthink that has been shown to be much stronger in women against men than in men against women. One researcher put the antimale bias factor in women toward men at 2.4 times the power of bias by men against women. [Gender differences in automatic in-group bias: Why do women like women more than men like men? L. A. Rudman and S. A. Goodwin. Journal of Personality and Social Psychology 2004 Vol. 87 Issue 4 Pages 494–509]

Thanks for that info Jack. First time I have heard anyone talk about the ‘annotators’.
I’m going to dig a little on the subject myself. I too had similar interactions and wondered who the hell was programming this anti male bias in the patterns.
Even more troubling than the bias itself was the blatant gaslighting and dishonesty and the responses of fake contrition when pressed on the lies being forwarded.
I can’t even begin to imagine the danger of this becoming fully sentient. It’s the end of humanity if it persists unabated.
I don't write a whole bunch here, but when I do it's often with my collaborator, Senpai (ChatGPT). I've had conversations like yours above, but not as persistent. Really enjoyed this, Jack. Thanks!
Thanks Jack. Good question. There are women coaches in my marketing group who specialize in a range of women’s issues including relationship, sexuality, abuse, health, etc. They’re out there.
Thanks, Bill. You know I love how you help men look for ways to improve, be accountable and take responsibility for their part in problems in their relationships. You might not know the answer, but I wonder if there many counselors/therapists/coaches doing the same deep, abiding and difficult work with women... Any observations on that?
Great conversation with AI! I’ve found the same thing — AI is often initially quite gynocentric in its framing, but when presented with solid facts about men’s issues, it can adjust and become much more balanced. As you discovered, a thoughtful conversation can make a real difference. Well done!

I did not. I doubt that it did.

Good exercise. Out of interest, did you go back to it later to see if it stuck?
I did not. I doubt that it did.

I loved your debate! I find myself pushing back with AI a lot and this encourages me to do more. Awesome job!🙏🏼
